Gaming Monitor: how to choose the one that best suits our needs
When assembling a gaming setup, the greatest attention is usually paid to the hardware platform and generally to the PC (GPU, CPU, RAM, SSD, heatsink, etc.) while the choice of the monitor is often relegated to last place. This is certainly not the case for professional gamers or DIY (Do It Yourself) game and PC enthusiasts, however the majority of users (and therefore gamers) do not belong to these two categories and, for various economic or purely technical reasons, neglect or ignore this aspect, only to then find their needs.
Choosing a good monitor for gaming – a term to be preferred to “gaming monitor” in reality – is not a complicated undertaking, but there are specific requirements that this type of display must have to be defined as such, or at least to offer satisfactory performance in this area. On the other hand, nowadays choosing a gaming monitor may seem simple at first glance even for those who are less experienced in the field; the web is full of articles, guides and video reviews that can help even beginners, however, having some basic knowledge can be a significant advantage to make the most of the budget you have available and, more importantly, optimize the user experience and overall performance of our gaming platform.
The ideal gaming monitor
As already mentioned above, a gaming monitor must have very specific characteristics; no one forbids us to play with any monitor or TV we have available (which many actually do), only to then have to make various compromises and settle for a less than optimal gaming experience. At the same time, the ideal gaming monitor does not exist, each of us has different needs and positions, effectively introducing a subjective element that must always be combined with common sense and a careful choice of the panel, the real focal point of the situation.
